We are now in the planning stage for our 2016 Volunteer Information Session which will take place at the Milford Recreation Hall on Saturday, April 16th. The session will start with registration at 9:00 am and wrap up around 3:00 pm. Our speakers confirmed so far include:
Jim Sherry, Past Lions International Director – Lions Clubs International is an amazing organization that supports many worthwhile projects. Jim will highlight some of their humanitarian and environmental efforts around the world.
Gerard MacLellan, Executive Director, Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA), (Atlantic Canada) – Gerard’s presentation will let us know how the EPRA helps to keep 100,000 metric tonnes of old electronics from going to the landfill every year!
Charlynne Robertson, Waste Programs Coordinator, Clean Foundation – Charlynne will share information about many of the programs that are coordinated by the Clean Foundation, including various litter clean-ups and home improvement.
Solar Energy– A representative from a local Solar energy company will go over their various options for solar energy and hot water production.
Our tour will be at the Enfield Water Treatment Plant. We will learn about the many processes and treatments that are used at this facility to provide safe drinking water for local residents.
We will also have a presentation by groups that have been involved with our program since the beginning, (over 20 years ago!). There will be time to share with other groups, and learn more about our program. Lunch and refreshments will be provided by the Milford & District Lions Club. They have been an Adopt-A-Hgihway group for many years and we are looking forward working with them for this event.
We always enjoy this informative and interactive day with our participants from around the province. It is a great way to get set for the Spring Litter Cleanup season!
